[Update] What Visa Infinite and JTB told us about 2026 WC tickets

World Cup 2026 Visa Infinite and JTB Inquiry Results Ticket

JTB offers no tours, Infinite is just a gateway. But there was one major discovery.

In the previous article, I outlined how to access hospitality packages through Visa Infinite.

However, after directly confirming with both JTB and the Visa Infinite concierge, two things became clear:
Two major miscalculations and and one important discovery .

  • Miscalculation 1: JTB only handles hospitality packages. No general tickets, no tours.
  • Miscalculation 2: Visa Infinite was not useful as a tool for securing tickets.
  • Biggest Discovery: JTB has an insider advantage where chances remain even after sell-outs.

In this article, I will organize and share these findings from my firsthand experience.

I. JTB Only Handles Hospitality Packages

JTB's official response (Email 1) clearly states the following:

  • No standalone match ticket sales
  • No package tours (flight + hotel + ticket)
  • They only handle hospitality packages

In other words, for this World Cup,

the option of leaving everything to a travel agency to secure your tickets simply does not exist.

For a tournament held in North America where travel logistics are challenging, this was a significant miscalculation.

Since I am targeting general admission tickets, hospitality is not relevant to me.

II. Visa Infinite Was Not Useful as a Ticket-Securing Tool

Initially, I
thought there might be an exclusive ticket allocation for Visa Infinite members.
That is why I signed up.

However, the reality was:

  • Hospitality is not exclusive to Visa members
  • Visa Infinite was merely a gateway (funnel) to the JTB page
  • Non-members can reach the same JTB page on their own

This is what I discovered.

Therefore,

there is no need to sign up for Visa Infinite solely for hospitality purposes.

Of course, the card still has its own merits like point rewards for the annual fee.
However But for the specific purpose of securing tickets, it did not function as a tool. That is the honest lesson I learned.

III. Current State of Ticket Purchasing

There is a lot of information, so let me organize it concisely.

General Tickets (Non-Hospitality)

  • For now, only the lottery phase is available
(The next lottery starts from December 11 for about one month)
  • After backlash, dynamic pricing may not be used in the third sales phase.
  • Looking at the hospitality seating charts:
     - In Monterrey, general tickets do not include pitchside seats (premium seats are not available for general admission)
     - In Dallas, pitchside general admission seats are available

Hospitality

  • Still purchasable online (no need to go through JTB)
  • Some categories are SOLD OUT
  • Always dynamic pricing
  • Monterrey in particular is starting to run low on inventory

Conclusion

The only thing available to buy right now is hospitality.
However, even hospitality is starting to dry up for some matches.

Since I am targeting general seats, I still need to wait.

IV. The Structure of Hospitality and Why I Ruled It Out

Hospitality through JTB has the following characteristics:

  • Hospitality price plusa 20% JTB service fee
  • No cancellations or resale allowed
  • Prices constantly fluctuate (dynamic pricing)

This does not align with my approach to watching matches, so

I have completely ruled out hospitality this time.

That said, here is where the biggest discovery .

V. The Biggest Discovery: Why There Is Still a Chance Even After SOLD OUT via JTB

When I called the JTB representative for details, insider information that is not publicly available came to light.

1. Japan matches and knockout rounds have unofficial internal allocations set aside.

The representative said:

For Japan national team matches and the final rounds, we hold a certain number of allocations internally.

This means:

  • Separate from the global shared inventory,a Japan-specific allocation exists (unofficial).
  • Even when On Location shows SOLD OUT,it may still be possible to secure tickets through JTB.

This is a key strength of JTB and important new information.

2. SOLD OUT may just mean a temporary pause for market adjustment.

The representative also said:

On Location sells inventory in stages while monitoring market response.

This means:

  • SOLD OUT does not necessarily mean
    completely finished.
  • SOLD OUT = It may just be temporarily paused.

In other words,

cases where inventory is re-released are actually quite common.

3. Going through JTB may allow inventory negotiation in some cases.

The representative explained:

By applying through JTB, there is a possibility of more flexible inventory procurement.

This means:

JTB is the only Japanese-language route that can potentially break through the SOLD OUT barrier.

This is a tremendous advantage for anyone considering hospitality.

VI. Summary: Two Miscalculations and One Major Discovery

Let me organize the most important takeaways from this article.

Miscalculation 1

JTB does not handle general tickets or tours, only hospitality packages.
This means anyone targeting general seats is completely on their own.

Miscalculation 2

Visa Infinite was not useful as a tool for securing tickets.
If your only goal is hospitality, there is no need for readers to sign up for the card.

Biggest Discovery

JTB has three strengths: Japan-specific allocations, staged sales, and inventory negotiation.
Because of this, there is still a chance even after SOLD OUT.

Just knowing these facts alone means
you can avoid unnecessary expenses and misguided strategies.

I hope this follow-up report is helpful for your 2026 World Cup viewing strategy.
